Europe at Sea – Annalisa Piras, Springshot Productions/SVT/ARTE, 2017
The world has not been so volatile since the end of WW2. Migration, conflicts, terrorism, cyber warfare, Brexit, the election of Trump and a shift towards nationalism are all contributing to the crumbling of the West’s world order. Through exclusive access to chief EU diplomat Federica Mogherini, award-winning film maker Annalisa Piras delivers a unique insight to the view from the top of the European Union, revealing how Europe is shaping up to face the challenges threatening its citizens’s security.
I’ve collaborated with Springshot Productions on the research and selection of film archives. Watch the full film here.
The Great European Disaster Movie – Annalisa Piras, Springshot Productions/BBC/ARTE, 2015
The Great European Disaster Movie is a BBC/ARTE co-production first broadcasted on BBC4 on March 1st 2015. The film pairs an imagined view of a dystopian future with insightful, cross-national analysis, by experts and by ordinary Europeans, on how and why things are going so wrong. Subtle, moving, thought-provoking and witty, The Great European Disaster Movie is far more than a political film but instead frames Europe through the eyes of those who are most important to its success: the Europeans themselves. Under the supervision of senior archive producer Miriam Walsh, I’ve been curating the research and selection of the archives of the film, with the goal not only to illustrate, but having a more creative and dialectic approach. At the same time, I worked as the assistant to the film’s editor, Matteo Bini.
